The SAAB automatics are prone to failure, typically because the owner neglects the fluid and screen services. I would instead suggest the you located and install a reman transaxle, although this will cost about 30% more you will have a warranty on the part, most used parts only carry a 30 day part warranty-no labor. Labor will vary with your local rates, but the job is about 8-10 hours. Our shop bills this at $500 labor + $100 fluids and such. We use a rebuilder in Old Saybrook, CT named Erikkson Industries. Although the number is not handy, you should be able to get it from information. Their transaxles are very well done and have an excellent warranty. The other option is SAAB, they also offer a reman units. Again, do yourself a favor and stay away from used on this item. The local yards get $1k for a used transaxle, and a warrantied reman only costs me $1.3k, where is the savings?
