Typically the cars lacked adequate cold start enrichment below 60 degrees ambient. Other causes for cold start stalling also exist in leaks in the engine vacuum, cracks in vacuum lines, the "infamous" vacuum canister in the passenger side inner fender. Also check the idle speed control motor, be certain that it is functioning to raise or keep constant the idle speed on cold start ups. Another trick when all else fails, close the plug gap up slightly. Finally, the dreaded carbon deposits on the intake valves. This one is easy to verify, simply remove the injection valves and inspect the top of the intake valves through the injector opening hole in the manifold. We are a Bosch Service Center in Buffalo, NY. My experience with the Mass Airflow Sensor has been that they do NOT cause cold stalling as a rule. I have fixed too many cars that have had the sensor installed by other shops, the problem is usually minor.
