> Apart from the usual stuff you mentioned check following:
Gearbox Put in rewerse gear and do a couple of take offs. If the rewerse
gear jumps out you will soon need to replace rewerse gear (pretty
expensive...).
Heatervalve The heatervalve has often problem with the sealing. It is
positioned behind the radio. Leaking coolant will end upp in front off
gas pedal (LHD). Check on floor for signs. Once the valv is replaced it
should be ok. Ask previous owner or check for recipt.
Head gasket Do a cold start, does the engine fire on four cylinder
instantly?! If not it could be a sign of bad head gasket or even cracks
in the head (turbo engine). Also listen after a boubbeling sound in the
heater system. It is air that is trapped in the heat exhanger. If any
doubts take the car to a work shop and let them meassure the amount of CO
in the coolant.
Otherwise it is bulletproof...
good luck! /Magnus
