If you don't get any heat out of the system with the engine warm, then clearly you have a problem. Unfortunately, plumbing is not my forte. >2) My voltage meter is telling me my altornator is producing on average >13.5 Volts. Is this normal? At idle? That seems low but not alarming. I get about 13.8 at idle. On the highway, it runs about 13.9 to 14.1. However, this is much less important than the cranking voltage. When you first start the car, the lowest cranking voltage is held momentarily in the display. If this dips below 10.0 volts, your battery is getting quite weak and should be checked, possibly replaced. >3) My temperature gage in stop and go traffic will rise up to 1/4 inch >below red. Once the fan goes on the temp goes down. Is this normal? As long as it does go down, it would seem to be working. You didn't mention the ambient conditions (summer in the desert?). If the engine gets really hot the 'Check Engine' lamp will come on (like when my head gasket blew). Check the coolant level.
