I am very interested in buying a one or two year old used Saab. But every time I toss the idea out to my friends, I immediately receive just an onslaught of comments about how I'm in for a slew of breakdowns. What is everyone's experience with Saab's reliability? No they do NOT last forever. That's mostly wishful thinking by Saab owners. After 125k miles I had to replace ball joints, timing chain, valve lifters, engine mounts, cam shaft, climate control blower on an 88 9000S. And that's pretty much stand operating procedure. Oh, and the headliner sags. Do NOT get a high mileage car thinking you will save money; you probably won't. People don't get Saabs for fun not because they're particularly reliable. Do not get a 900. Check Consumer Reports. -George
