So if Barney the Dino or got the deal at 28500, I >would guess the dealer made 500 profit on the deal. Not to good for a >30k car. [I'm not sure how I missed your post (my shitty news server), so I'm cutting and pasting from dejanews] Actually, I figured that dead on invoice was 29,591. Then, subtract the $1500 incentive and you're at 28,091. I had them throw in a 6cd changer (claimed their COST was $360) AND they installed it. My final price, minus tax, including the 6cd changer, was $28,500. So, if I take $28,091 and add $360 for the changer, I've got $28,451... so I -gave- them $49 for installing the changer ;) IMNSHO, that's a pretty fookin' good price!!! My best wheeling and dealing to date. I didn't touch their holdback, as I figured that was their profit... oh yeah, they also dropped an oil filter in the trunk (for free, of course), as I like to change the oil on my new cars immediately... which I've done, BTW (see my post on turbo timers). >I am dependant on sales for a living and don't have a problem with a >5% mark-up. I mean these guys gotta eat too. I just hope I am not >missing something here 'cause I just drove my 98 900SE home tonight. >So if the guy makes 5% on a 29500 investment (dealer) or about 14 >hundred dollars, somehow I feel thats legitimate. IMO, don't pay OVER invoice. Just don't it. They're still making money on every other slob coming into the dealership and buying at sticker or just under. Believe me, I hear my friends telling me all of the time how they paid $500 UNDER STICKER!!!! The dealers are making their money. Anyway, my girlfriend and I love our new Saab. I'm looking forward to many years with it and she's looking forward to a convertible in a few years ;) Now, if I could only find a track that was open to see what this thing will do =:-o ---------------------------------------------------------- Wayne Edelen - 1996 Pontiac Formula M6 - Purple / Graphite Dyno'd:310hp/345ft-lbs Best 1/4:13.365nopsam71 (1.923 60')
