Saab valves out of these motors can't be cut and last very long due to a stellite coating for hardening.Cut through the coating and they are history. At $50+ each, ouch. Heads on turbos can't be shaved very much or the compression gets too high. With at least 273K on the bottom end you would be asking for problems. Overheating takes its toll on rings as well and at 237K, these might be toast. So start with at least a used motor that you may have to freshen up. If a customer came to me with such, I would offer no more than $300. You have to consider the gearbox as well and without the benefit of a test drive to listen to the pinion bearings, that is like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun at that mileage with no records. $1200 IMO is too much for this thing. And it needs paint? No, I would pass. For the $4000, you could get a very decent driveable car. Ywan
