The only 9000 model available for the '98 model year is the CSE Turbo, and it will be discontinued at the end of 1998. That's right, SAAB is ditching the entire 9000 line and concentrating on the new 9-5. In addition, the 900 is being renamed the 9-3 to reflect the new numbering system. I'm also a little disappointed to see the Aero's demise, in my opinion it was the flagship of SAAB's product line. I guess your best bet is to watch for a used Aero in good condition. The 9-5 will initially be less sporty than the 9000 Aero, and come with a standard light-pressure asymmetrical turbo engine, but as the model line is diversified, a high performance version will be forthcoming. It is rumored that it could develop as high as 250 horsepower, and include a stiffer sport suspension. Maybe you could hold out a year or two for the "turbo rush" version of the 9-5. -Jason Porter jason.porternopsaman.edu
