This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_01BD12B7.1FEEC9E0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I own an 1997 Saab Turbo SE. Got it through European delivery, had great time driving it around Germany and Sweden, and LOVE It driving around here. When I was looking for a car, I drove a bunch of cars, from BMW328 to Acura Integra, including Honda Prelude in-between. Prelude is a fine car. However, it is not Saab. I love mine, it is really a very intimate relationship I have with this car. Every time I get in, I have a wonderful inspiring feeling. Max torque (all 194lb-ft of it) at 2100rpm helps that feeling a lot. You will hear the engine at idle, unlike on a Honda; however, you will hear the same sound at 80 miles/hour. At that speed, all you hear is your tires on the road; at 125 mi/hour you may want to turn on automatic speed-dependent volume control function on your radio (I won't drive that fast unless the road is completely empty and in good condition, or unless I am on Autobahn in Germany). Regarding your questions: > Bill K wrote in message <34A3FE88.20A477C6nopsamrsey.com>... > Guys, > I'm considering a 900 Turbo cpe over another Prelude. To affirm this I'd > like to hear some Saab (Sob?) stories concerning the newer 900 turbos. > Quirks aside, is it any better than a Honda in heavy rains or snow? Saab is the best car there is in the rain and snow, better then most 4x4 SUVs. Think of where they are built! You will need a snow tires, however; stock tires get too stiff in the cold whether (that is the word I got from a Saab taxi driver in Trollhattan, Sweden. He also said that with good snow tires he'd drive his at 65mi/hour through snowy highway). > How does the build quality hold up after the warranty fades? Don't know about after warranty life yet. From what I read, it appears that sometimes you can get problems, but other times the car will drive and drive and drive... Hondas may last 200k miles; Saabs, if you take care of them - 400k miles. That is an important point though - take care of it. That's the way they built cars in Europe - with the assumption that you will take good care of your car, and then it'll pay you back 100-fold. They are not like Japanese that last their lifetime regardless of whether you change the oil or not (slightly exaggerated :-). Saabs are built to be driven hard ("The harder you drive, the better it gets" - another word from the taxi driver in Trollhattan; but - you need to warm up your turbo first, because otherwise it won't last). > It's winter here in NJ so I can't tell how well the A/C works, anyone > use it hard in 100+ degree conditions? 900SE has an automatic climate control. It works fine for me, except that at idle you do have some RPM variations. > Let's hear it... > Thanks for your comments, > Bill Knopsamrsey.com > > Hope that helps, -Dima ------=_NextPart_000_01BD12B7.1FEEC9E0 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html><head></head><BODY bgcolor=3D"#FFFFFF"><p><font size=3D2 = color=3D"#000000" face=3D"Arial">I own an 1997 Saab Turbo SE.
