It isn't enough to clean out just the leaves as they disolve over time and plug up the drain. Take a coat hanger or piece of sturdy wire and run it up the hose very gently. If you can't locate the bottom of the hose, you can go in from the top but watch you fingers on the ac grill as it has sharp corners.
