Persistant shimmies at around 55 MPH are almost always wheel balance. If you don't get any satisfaction otherwise, find a shop that has the old fashioned on-car wheel balance set up and have them spin the wheels with the car on a floor jack. Many times this will show up a totally obvious problem, even bad tire belts, without a replace and test, replace something else and test proceedure. Poist your results when it gets handles.
