Subject: 1987 SAAB help!!!

I've got a bit of a problem with my SAAB. It's a 1987 SAAB 9000S. I just got it about one month ago. Unfortunately, the car did not come with the manual. The previous owner was an idiot (the car has an alarm and he doesn't have the key for that as well). But anyway, I'm curious as to one thing on the instrument cluster. On the bottom there appears to be a rectangular guage. When the sun shines at the right angle, I can catch a glimpse of some digital numbers and a digital bar. I'm assuming it's some sort of fuel trip guage for economy. Well, I cannot see a thing 99% of the time. The only time I see it is when I look very closely with some bright light OR like I said, when the sun shines at the right angle. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? I'm open to any suggestions. If it's a bulb that needs replacing, I'd rather do it myself than bring it to the dealer. Please e-mail me at dj-parknopsamhome.net. I'm desperate for help. Thanks for any help.
