Subject: 1989 9000s starting problems



I recently purchased a 1989 SAAB 9000s with 116,000 miles. a one owner car.
The owner was out of state and it appears to be an auction vehicle.

On cold start up the car runs extremely rough and bucks. as it idles it for
a few minutes it settles down. It sometimes runs so rough it stalls. Also
you have to engage the starter even on warm starts for quite a few seconds.

Could it be the timing chain(belt.)? I had new plugs installed when I
purcahsed it just before Christmas.

Any ideas.?
