Subject: Re: Newcomer looking for a Saab

I'm currently driving my first SAAB, a 900 (non-turbo, non-S) 5 speed. It's an 88 with 164,000 miles on the clock and frankly, I'm pretty impressed. The folks in the NG seem to urge you to stay away from Turbos from this period, unless you are really into preventative maintenance. The 900 doesn't have a ton of power, but it can get out of its own way and gets a more than a few approving glances from fellow drivers. (This is just a spillover benefit.) Good luck!! >> I am in the market for a used car, and I'm currently looking at '87 >> through '91 or so 3 door model. ANY information on the reliability, >> performance, looks, comfort, and so on of these types would be very >> appreciated. You can reply on the list, or e-mail me at zhopenopsams.edu >> or bent-wookieenopsam.com. Thanks a lot for any info. > >As the former owner of a 1987 3 door automatic turbo 900...I like the 3 >door design...but get a stick, and get a "S" (nonturbo!) ... You'll be a >lot happier in the long run.
