I own a 1987 Saab 900i and have some weird stuff going on where the most noticeble is that my gas-mileage is going crazy. I used to average approx. 450km to a full tank (60ltr) - which I thought high but it being my first "heavy" car - I didn't think much of it. Just recently I saw my petrol usage go down to 525km to a full tank, but I attributed that to the fact that I was driving longer stretches (200km one way). Just last week the usage went down further to a point where I got 680 km (!!!) out of one tank of fuel. I was thinking that my prayers to the fuel-Gods had been answered when suddenly my last tank only got me 480km farther. A collegue of mine claims that it could be a faulty "injection computer" or one of its sensors. Because this is my first Saab (and my first injection car) I can not asses if this could be the case. Furthermore I am very weary of going to Saab dealers for answers due to disappointing previous experiences. The noticeble symptoms -except for the jumping gas-mileage- is a sometimes very strong smell of petrol and a slighty "un-even running engine. Furthermore it runs like clockwork. Can anyone in Saab-land give me some advise on this ? Who knows wht normal petrol consumption is on this car ('87 900i 3dr with a/c) Many thanx in advance William
