Thanks for your reply. It looks like I'll be sticking with a 
paper filter and changing it more often than recommended 
intervals. (we live in an area of Maine that has many dirt and 
gravel roads). I wish Amsoil did make a filter for my car. I'm 
checking on K&N. They list one for it up to 1994 2.3 Turbo...I 
haven't checked to see what, if anything, is different for the 
1997 2.3 turbo.
