Subject: Re: Bypass Oil Filter worth it?

John- I, too, have had a Dual Remote Bypass filter on my 85 Saab 900 turbo. Real bear to install with the stuff which came with the kit some years back--but that's another story. For the kind of driving you are planning to do, the Bypass filter does make sense. If you can find room, the Dual Remote is my choice. If you use AMSOIL 0W-30, you should plan to take an oil sample every 35,000 miles or once a year. If you use 5W-30 or 10W-30, plan to sample every 25,000 miles. If you use Mobil 1, then I'd say to sample every 10-15,000 miles. As long as the oil tests suitable for continued use, no need to drain it. I just got a report back on mine after about 16,000--suitable for continued use. I also use AMSOIL Synthetic ATF in the transmission, and the synthetic gear lube in the final drive.
