Subject: 9-5 choppy acceleration with manual trans.

I was very impressed with the new 9-5 until I took one out for a test drive. I found that the acceleration with the manual transmission was "choppy". It felt like the engine paused between shifts. First, no power, then a fraction of a second later, the engine would kick in. At first I thought it was turbo lag, but I thought the low pressure turbo was suppose to make the power delivery more even. Besides, I don't think I let the engine drop below 2000 RPM, so the turbo should have always been in its peak range. Then I got home and I read in Car and Driver (May issue) that they mentioned this same thing, but only under hard acceleration. I think this flaw may be bigger than they said and it can be felt under brisk or even normal acceleration. Now I'm debating trying an automatic (the salesman says it drives a lot smoother). Other than the uneven power, the rest of the car drove very nice and it is extremely quiet.
