I have located a 91 Saab 9000 Carlsson 2.3 Turbo in good original condition which has a complete history including a copy of every bill from any money spent on the car. The service book is also complete with every service carried out at the correct mileage and interval. The mileage is 135,000. I would like to find out if there are any issues which are specific to this model, its year,or its mechanical layout prior to buying. I have owned three 9000'S before so am aware of some of the strengths and weakness's of the brand but have never owned a turbo engined car. I have done as much research as I can and am aware of the main differences between Carlsson and standard Turbo car. Also, there is a vertical crack in the rear bumper on the near side. The current owner assures me that this can be repaired by welding the plastic, both the outer shell and the black strip in the centre? I have never heard of plastic welding? Wheel corrosion seems to be a problem on this model. Does anyone know if this can be ground away and the wheel resealed, or will it simply return. I would like to restore the car to as near original condition as possible. Any information, tips, advice, help, much appreciated.
