Subject: Re: New 9000CD turbo owner - many questions

Well, welcome to the world of Saabs. Here's my opinionated answers to your questions. I've owned 3 Saabs. A '93 900S, a 91 900 and the car I'm currently driving is an '86 9000 Turbo. Just like regular oil..this will depend on the climate that your currently living in. You will want a slight bit heavier oil the hotter it is. I wouldn't really goto extremes since the turbo likes to not have any sludge on it. >Where can I get the oil filters? Is >the dealer the only source for oil and air filters? No, any parts store should have them. >Does this model have >the air filtration system for the interior? How often should this be >changed if so? Yes it does...try changing it between 6 months and a year. Again..if you live on a dirt road, change it more often. >Is >there anything else I need to know about maintaining this car? Change the oil regularly...the number one thing you can do for any car is keep it regularly maintained. Let the Turbo warm up before you drive and cool down before you turn it off. If you got that many miles out of an american Turbo, I'm sure you'll do fantastic with a European model. Hey, and have fun!
