Subject: Re: 900S tire size

It depends on the specific tire and wheel combination -- all tires are not a definite "standard" max width; there is quite a bit of variation. If you can get a shop to guarantee a specific set of 205 tires will fit, and will replace them with 195s if they have interference, go ahead. Otherwise stick with the 195s. In most circumstances, handling and performance differences are not noticeable. I had 2 sets of 205s on my '82 900T. The first set was OK -- just a bit of interference in the front with the steering wheel cranked full to either direction. The next set rubbed on the fenderwells with any load in back, and with the spring coils under various maneuvering/bumping in front. I went back to 195s. --------------------- John R.
