A few years ago I had the steering rack replaced on my 83 900T. The Saab tech in Lorton told that the rack is the same basic rack that GM used on the Chevrolet X-11 and its clones. The only difference is the way they hook up to the car, but it is the same basic rack. GM and Saab have been collaborating for years. Saab helped GM with the dual overhead cam four they first put in the Pontiac. Naturally it took GM a few years to get it straightened out. For the record, the 16V turbo engine debuted in Saab 900 convertible at the 1983 Frankfurt Auto show. When I saw the 1994 Saab 900, I knew GM had helped out. The tail lights looked like they came from the Pontiac Division. Ken Washington 87 9000S
