Saab has figured out that high-pressure turbos are a turnoff to many people who want refined engines that are powerful AND smooth. In a sport-luxury car like the 9-5 a high-pressure would ruin what is otherwise a very quiet, refined, and luxurious car. Having only owned manuals, I was disappointed with the driving experience that the 9-5 provided with the manual tranny. The engine felt slow responding to the accelerator- it paused while stepping on the gas and was slow to drop RPM's when lifting off the gas. I could not drive it smoothly. Unacceptabe for a $30,000+ sport-luxury sedan.
