Subject: Re: Fault codes

Here's the message i thought I had lost. I found the following in my Robert Bentley Saab manual: After a discussion of "On-board Diagnostics" for LH 2.4 & LH 2.4.2 fuel injection systems: The fault code display is triggered by grounding a pin at the LH control unit test connector. '87 900 16valve eng don't have an LH fault code readout - only an EZK ignition readout. On '88s there is a 3 pin test connector in the engine compartment near the fresh air intake. On '89 & later sedan models there is a *10-pin connector under the rear seat*. They caution that the tests must be carried out exactly as shown as an extra few seconds at the wrong time can clear the fault memory. If the Haynes book doesn't show this try to get hold of a Bentley book which is sub-titled "official service manual" and sold in Saab parts dept. Hope this sheds light.
