Subject: '87 9000S OVERHEAT

I've got a 1987 9000S SAAB with about 124,000 miles on it. It's been very hot here in the midwest. Unfortunately, my SAAB overheats very close to the red zone on the temperature guage. It gets so hot that the A/C seems to shut off. First off, does anybody know why my A/C just stops working? (The compressor and freon levels are fine. How do I know? There is one part of the A/C unit that has a few millimeter thick layer of ice around it.) Also, I was thinking that it may be a thermostat problem. Does anybody know where the thermostat would be located? I was thinking of replacing that. Any help or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Dennis Park wild.childnopsamoot.com
