I came up with the following: After getting every thing apart (all the bolts..ect) I would pry the pressure plate away from the flywheel with a screw driver. Do this right next to where the alignment pin goes through the pressure plate. Then I would put somthing over the pin so the presure plate could not go back down (usually a penny). Rotate the enging (by hand!) to the next pin. If the clutch cylinder will push at all (even if it leaks like a stuck pig) have someone step on it. While it is in tuck a 9mm (dia) spark plug wire between the fingers on the pressure plate and the pressure plate housing. (BE CAREFULL!!! DON'T LET THAT THING GET AHOLD OF THE END OF YOUR FINGER!!!!!!!!) If there is NO cylinder left then (Using some wood blocks ect.) pry the pressure plate further away from the fly wheel and put the blocks behinf it. Eventually the pressure plate will be far enough against the clutch cylinder that you can stuff the spark plug wire in as above. Once the plug wire is jammed in there take the blocks /pennies out from under the pressure plate. (Carefull the plug wire will compress a bit so there is still some pressure there). (Try not to drop the blocks down into the bottom of the clutch housing.. it is a real pain in the A.. to get pennies out of there) Now every thing should be relaxed and you can get the pressure plate / slave cylinder out. (It is about 50/50 weither this is easier to do with the intermeadiate shaft in or out. It holds things in place as you a working but it is always in the way.) BTW if you can find the correct tools it is A LOT easier. I came up with this plan when it was all I could to to afford a clutch in the first place. My advice is probbalbly bad...Therefore use it at your own risk :-) -Burt >On 22 Jun 1998 15:32:07 GMT, William McLeod wrote: > >:>I understand you need tools to remove a clutch in a 1988 900 8 valve.
