Subject: '92 900s window switch mayhem

Hello. I've been having problems with my 1992 4-door 900s window switches of late. Before today, they were working erratically, but they never got to the point that I was stuck with an open window (i.e., after repeatedly pushing on the switch a few times, I would get the window to roll up/go down). Today that changed. My passenger side rear window stopped working (in the down position) so I pulled over and broke out the screwdriver and cleaned the contacts for all the switches. Voila. The rear windows worked fine and so did the sunroof. Now my front windows won't work at all, and they are stuck in the open position (the windows, that is, not the switches). My girlfriend managed to roll her window down once (the first time she pushed the button) and both front windows are now not functioning. I've taken apart the window switch control box several times to clean the contacts, and they still don't work. There is no fuse for the front windows. I'm worried the front windows are shorted out. Wouldn't the rear windows short out too, though? I find it odd that the sunroof and rear window switches work fine and the front ones don't at all. Argh. Gimme a Saab with a sunroof _and_ manual windows. =) Please advise via email, if possible. -Narayan Nayar narayannopsamghtport.com
