Though I have used synthetic oil in all my vehicles and small engines for 20 years, I would say there is no "compelling reason" for non-turbocharged engines. If you would like to increase the margin of safety in the oil's performance, though, any synthetic oil will have better extreme-temp performance and protection than a regular oil, and will allow longer change intervals in most cases. Benefits are better cold start performance and high-temp protection, reduced oil temps, and possibly a bit of increase in gas mileage. --------------------- John R.
