This is a common problem in the south and southwest USA where the car sits in the sun all the time - not a bad price to pay for 325 days of sunshine. The hot top loosens the glue on the headliner (that's what the "ceiling" is called). Any auto upholstery shop can fix it quite inexpensively if it is not torn (around a $100). You can also inject upholstery glue into the loose areas yourself, and tacked them back up. There are steps you can take to prevent this from happening: 1) Get a car cover and use it. 2) Crack the sunroof or windows a bit to let the hot trapped air out. 3) Park indoors when possible, or in the shade. 4) Move to the UK where you'll never have a problem with the sun.
