We recently sold our new 98 900se with sport exhaust back to the dealer for a substansial loss, although Saab USA did credit us $2500 to be used at the dealer. The car at 5k suffered an idle speed of 1150, low gas mileage (20.8 highway), low boost, and rich running (very black exhaust.) After 6 weeks of not doing much (the onboard diagnostics said everything was ok) we got disgusted and bought a 9000cse, as our Aero had been trouble free. I always felt the problem was a vacuum leak, but no tests were performed. Letters to Saab USA went unanswered, although the dealer pushed things along, for we had bought 3 new Saabs in 3 years. The dealer has turned around and sold the car with no further work.Saab USA went as far as claiming the tach could be 10% off! VIN # YS3DF58N8W2003358, in Chicago suburbs. e-mail for more info.
