Subject: Re: How much time repairing a clutch?

In article <empgTInv9GA.305nopsamwaaw.compuserve.com>, peer_wagnernopsamcom says... > I had to bring my '90 9000 CD turbo to my SAAb dealer. What do you think, > how much time do they spend on replacing clutch and probably slave-cylinder? > A quick answer would help me saving a bit money :-)) > > Thanx, Peer > > > I recently replaced the slave cylinder and clutch on my 900 16v Turbo Sport. It was the first time I had done this and as such it was a real bastard of a job ! It took me about 5 hours - mostly because I couldn't depress the the clutch diaphram springs as the slave cylinder was u/s and I didn't have the specialist tools rqd. A lot of time is also spent just removing all the stuff that's in the way of the clutch bell housing. If was was to do it again it wouldn't take so long; Just a learning curve thing I suppose.
