My red '86 900 seems to be loosing its paint whenever I wash and/or wax the car. Whenever I wax, even using clear-coat approved polishes such as Nu-Finish, my waxing rag quickly turns red even with the lightest rubbing. The paint is also comes off (to a lesser extent) on my drying towels after washing. I'm not down to the primer yet, but would like to preserve whatever paint I have left, yet keep the paint protected from the elements. Any suggestions? Note: The previous owner reported some body damage repair on the right rear of the vehicle. I can tell the slight difference in the paint. The problem I'm having is with the entire body, especially the paint on the hood and bonnet, which appears to be original. Greg Youngen St. Joseph, IL
