I concur wholeheartedly having watched my father toast a DI after deciding to try SplitFires. As for Platinums in a supercharged engine though, I disagree. GM has been putting the Delco Platinum plugs in their supercharged 3800 Series IIs for about 3-4 years with no ill effects (to my knowledge). Basic rule of thumb is that there are NO blanket rules. Some things will work in one car and not in another. 'Nuff said.
