Any ideas? Usualy this is a sign of worn valve guides, valve stems or broken plastic valve oil seals (inside the valve springs) When the car stands overnight a little oil will seep along the valve stem ino the cylinders and burn at startup producing smoke. After a little while this drop of oil is burnt up and the smoke disappears. Replace the plastic seals and you're ok. Badly worn valve guides or piston rings will produce smoke all the time and certainly at deceleration when the high vacuum sucks in more oil along the valve guides and rings. This can only be cured by a major overhaul. MH ('78 95 '79 96)
