I have a 1992 9000s with about 70,000 miles that had the SRS light come on this past summer. When I took it to the dealer, they told my that my SRS "computer" needed to be replaced for approximately $800. It turned out that I had a leak in my heater core that dripped onto the SRS control box, and caused the problem. After some discussions with Saab USA, they took care of the problem for only a minimal outlay on my part. You really should check it out since your airbag probably won't deploy if the light is on.
