It takes about an hour to do this, is very simple, and will cost about $30 (or less) in parts. You might also have something more severe, such as a dead water pump (listen for a rhythmical grinding noise at the firewall as a clue) or a clogged radiator. Replacing the radiator or water pump is not exceptionally hard, but does takes some time, some tools, and some patience - and a shop manual doesn't hurt... If these fail, take it to a Saab dealer. Be SURE you take it somewhere reputable, since many independent shops will use non-OEM water pumps and other such parts, which may not be reliable. Also, it's worth noting that 900s have a "special" thermostat which is *unique* to Saabs... using the wrong one will hurt you. Bad. -Justin
