Couldn't get the noise to go away with lubrication. Lubrication seemed to cure the squeaking and groaning but not the loud "clicking." A local body shop which does the Saab dealer's work said the door check mechanism on 9000's is prone to failure, and fixed it (welding required) for about $100 each time. Body shop guy said he heard of owners getting reimbursed from Saab for this fix, but I didn't pursue it. If you get this done, make sure the shop knows how the put the door panels and trim back correctly.
