Subject: Re: what kind of engine oil is best for SAAB???

SAAB South Africa had a "meet the people" function, and I met their service director; on loan from SAAB UK. I asked him why their service interval for the turbos was 15000km, when most car manufacturers reduce their turbo service interval to 5000 kms. He replied that the oil makes all the difference. It is used by SAAB as the primary mechanism for coping with heat in their turbos. SAAB use synthetic oil. The local SAAB people use a British synthetic (Silkolene Pro-Plus fully synthetic racing oil for 4 strokes), but any (very expensive) one will do.
