You may get a bit more power at the top end but you will probably notice a
bigger improvement in throttle response as the inlet tract is reduced in
length. If you are driving in a hot climate its probably a good idea to
duct some air from the front to where the filter is situated. I removed
the air box on my 900t16 and fitted a JR filter directly on the mass meter
(this also improves the airflow through the intercooler) and noticed an
improvement in throttle response.
