Endless annoying little problems and a few very expensive ones. All in all almost enough headaches to make you forget what an absolute joy it is to drive a car that feels alot like you. #1 problem with '87 turbo 900 cooked turbocharger from being driven hard and put away wet. ALWAYS allow the turbo impeller to cool down after "spirited" use (off boost driving or idleing) for a couple of minuites before shut down. Other wise the intense heat on the exhaust side migrated toward the cool intake side and cooks the oil in the support bearing in the middle. Over time thid carbon coat builds up to reduse oil flow and excessive wear results. presto expensive blue smoke. The '87 did not (I think) have the water jacket cooling around the turbo bearing as did later models. Also switch now to Mobil 1 transmission oil while you still have your shirt. And don't drive with your hand resting on the shifter!! Makes trannies go Bye-Bye. Join SAAB owners club (Deluth, MN). Great quarterly members mag. woof.
