I think there is a minimum idle adjsutment, or a way to control how fast the idle falls. I think the part that died on my mom's '87 9000 was a float valve. This is a problem we have been able to temorarily solve for a year or two, but always keeps returning. Ask your mechanic about it, and about the float valve. I remember this being a relatively easy and inexpensive fix.
