SAAB stands for Svenska Aeornautica Aktiebolag. This means in English the "Swedish Aircraft Company" where Aktiebolag means "company" or "Inc" in Sweden (AB) I may not have spelled it right in Swedish but thats what it means as the car was first made by the Swedish aircraft people in 1947. An air cooled engine that was a real ugly duckling--but ran in the cold Sedish climate. "Aaron K.
