I would try and sell locally... my guess is you won't get much of a deal on trade-in... my only personal experience is with a friend, who tried to trade in his '90 900T (immaculate) for a 9000 a year or so ago... they offered him $4000 for it, after quite a bit of haggling... I ended up buying it from him instead for about $8000, which was still a good deal for a '90 900T at the time... The other thing to try is to insist you don't have a trade in, get the paperwork nearly done on the 9-3, then "decide" to trade in the car... that way you can see the real price of what you're paying for the 9-3, and what the dealer will really pay for the 900... If you do it all at once, dealers have a habit of raising the price of the new car to offer you more on the trade-in, or vice versa - given you a "great deal" on the new car and explaining they'll give you very little on the trade in. In the "open market" you'd probably be able to get between $3000 and $5000 for an '88 with those miles - and probably closer to $3k than $5k. This could vary by your location vs. mine, but after buying 12 used Saabs in the past few years (I'm not joking) that's the pricing I see.. -Justin
