A friend of mine used to have a 1985 900T with exactly the same problem down here in Australia. Driving over 100km/h for more than an hour in >35C the car just dies. After it cooled for about 45mins you could keep going but had to take it really slow. Apparently it's the electronic ignition. According to SAAB, replacing the electronic ignition should fix the problem but as it only happened on long country runs in the middle of summer he never bothered to fix it. Hope this helps...
