Bob, A compression check could tell you if your head gasket is bad...Because you drove it in an over heated condition, you may have blown your head gasket and/or warped the head...But you need to find out what caused the over heating...It could be a bad water pump, bad thermostat, leaking hose or a clogged radiator...If you live in Texas, you may have hard water with a high mineral content. If that is the case, when you repair your cooling system, use distilled water with your coolant, as per the Oct. 98 Motor Trend Car Care section...The minerals in hard water can cause blockage in the radiator...Use the newsgroup and the www.saabnet.com Bulletin Board to find a reasonable Saab independent in your area....
