I'd try using a dash mat. That keeps the sun off of the dash, and even if it does crack, you won't have to look at it. The other thing is to put up a sun shade in the windshield when you park for the day, particularly in the summer. I always use mine when the car sits at work all day. My dash was also perfect, but alas, it too has a small crack developing.
