Mine started making the noise in my '86 9000T and just about one year(and several mysterious stalls) later, the sucker failed. Best thing that ever happened though...finally figured out why the machine would stall every so often. A real "duh"! Replaced it myself, Not a hard job. But be sure that the seal is nice and tight holding it into the fuel tank, or your guaranteed a fuel smell inside the cab. Skools in!
