Subject: Re: Saab 9-3 -- any satisfied (or not) owners out there?

Here's what you get if you buy a base Saab 9-3: 1. Performance: The standard 185hp turbo provides best-in-class acceleration, passing power and fuel economy. Excellent ride and handling. 2. Real-life safety: Insurance industry data shows the 9-3 to have the lowest accident injury rate of any mid-size (or smaller) car sold in the U.S. 3. Versatility: Simply put, the 9-3 has the largest trunk of any car sold in the U.S. at 24.5 cu. ft. With it's hatchback and fold-down rear seats, it's cargo capacity expands to nearly 50 cu. ft., which rivals some SUVs 4. Standard features: The 9-3 has it all, even in base form. It also has thoughtful features that most other cars don't even offer, like a weatherband built into the radio, as well as speed sensitive volume control, front and rear foglights, headlight wiper/washers, cargo tie-downs in the trunk, night panel feature and many, many more... 5. Quality: Saab had some quality problems in the past (Saab was one of the last to jump on the quality bandwagon), but data indicates that the new 9-5 and 9-3 are extremely high quality. A few years ago, Saab hired a guy named Lars Olson to improve quality. He's the guy who was in charge of quality during Volvo's rise from near bottom to the top 5 in the '90s. He's working his magic at Saab and it shows. 6. Overall, the 9-3 is probably your best choice at around $26k, well-equipped.
