Why does is it suprise you that after 140,000 miles the clutch needs
replacing? I recently had this job done on my 84 900T16. It cost me 150
pounds (about $240) including complete Borg and Beck clutch kit.

How this lot can add up to $2k is beyond me. Maybe you should consider
getting a quote from another garage!

Your first idea is the correct one. Buying a SAAB is never a wise choice if
you want to make money from it. I have already spent more on repairs to my
car than it originally cost me a year ago. This doesn't bother me since I do
over 15k miles a year and want the car to last for at least another 5 or so
years. I love my SAAB and if you do to you will realise it is a long term
investment in a superior car. After you have made these repairs the car
should be good for another 140k miles. Yours NJH.
