Chad, I have an 87 9000S. It sounds like someone has been messing with the wiring on the that 89 9000 CD, even though the 89 model year seemed to have more electrical problems than the two years before it. As for the mufflers, there are two and center and a rear. I had to replace both of mine...I ordered Starla OEM replacements from Impex Distributors, 1-800-736-3550...The muffles cost me $68.55 (rear) and $93.78 (center) delivered...The ones for the CD Turbo will cost a little more...The valve cover gasket needs to be replaced...The previous owner did that to mine before I bought....The noise under the valve covers could be the timing chain tensioners...If that is the case, the chain needs to be replaced and soon, before it breaks and wreaks havoc...You can get more information at the www.saabnet.com bulletin board....Get your hands on Haynes Manual for the 9000...It has the wiring diagrams in it...It is normal for the ACC to come when the car starts...You can turn it off by pushing the ECON button and chaning the fan speed manually.
